We thank God for all that He has done and for all that we have been able to see and experience in the mission field of Guatemala.
Let us share with you some information about the Hinds family.
Don was saved at age 13, has served in the U.S. Navy as an Operations Specialist (1971-73), and is a graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with associate degrees in Marketing, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering. He also is a graduate of Northstar Bible Institute, a ministry of First Bible Baptist Church of RochesterNew York, where we have been members since 1973. Don served as Sunday School superintendent for the Beginner II class for ten years and ministered as a deacon.
Don worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for Schlegel Corporation of Rochester until 1991, then started full time deputation to go to the field of Guatemala. Our hearts were directed to serving on the mission field, after seeing God’s great harvest in the country of Mexico in the summer of 1989. After prayer and consideration, we saw the door to Guatemala open and on June 8, 1992 we landed in Guatemala City to start the ministry there.
Cathy saved at age 22 was working as a musician writing music, singing and playing stringed instruments. Now yielded to God for His glory, with great joy, ministers in music in whatever way to glorify God and edify others and to be a light for lost souls. She served in the Music and Sunday School ministries at our home church, and also served in nursing homes and hospital ministries.
We have 3 adult sons Jeff, David, and Andy. They spent almost 3 years with us in Guatemala and were a tremendous blessing to us. They became fluent in Spanish and helped in many areas of the ministry, song leading, preaching, leading in the youth ministry, computer work and ministering with music. How we thank God for them.
While in Guatemala, we attended language school, worked with a Bible Correspondence School, other Baptist Churches, Smite trips, conferences, and other activities. In 1994 Don became pastor of a church in the capital where we have been more personally involved in Discipling the people in that side of the city.
